The Primary PGCE team have created a subject overview for each of the foundation subjects from the primary National Curriculum.
You may find these helpful in supporting the trainee to plan and teach foundation subjects.
Each overview will give you a clear rationale for the subject including:
– the aims and purpose from the National Curriculum
– where the subject fits into the EYFS curriculum
– specific pedagogical considerations
– what progression might look like in this subject
– resources and further reading
– key questions when observing children and expert colleagues in school
