Visiting Tutor (for University-led)
The trainee’s Visiting Tutor in Phase 2 is likely to be a different tutor from the Visiting Tutor in Phase 1 but this is not always the case.
The Visiting Tutor will arrange a visit in Week 2 or 3 of the placement. This visit will include an observation of teaching as well as a review of the trainee’s planning folder and OneDrive portfolio. There will be chance for the trainee to ask any questions and for the tutor to check that the trainee has a full understanding of the placement expectations and the school-based tasks. The tutor will also check the mentor has a full understanding of the expectations for Phase 2.
The Visiting Tutor will make another visit to the school in Week 6 or 7 of the placement. This will include another observation of teaching with feedback. The tutor will also look again at the trainee’s planning folder. The OneDrive portfolio must also be updated by the trainee before the visit so feedback can be given.
Quality Assurance Tutor (for Lead Partners)
The trainee’s Quality Assurance Tutor in Phase 2 will be the same tutor as visited in Phase 1.
The Quality Assurance Tutor will make another visit to the school in Week 2 or 3 of the placement. This will include an observation of teaching with feedback. The tutor will also look at the trainee’s planning folder and feedback on the OneDrive portfolio.
ITE Co-ordinator (for Lead Partners)
The ITE Co-ordinator will arrange a visit in Week 6 or 7 of the placement. This visit will include an observation of teaching and a feedback discussion. The co-ordinator will also look at the trainee’s planning folder. There will be chance for the trainee to ask any questions and for the ITE Co-ordinator to check that the trainee has a full understanding of the placement expectations and the school-based tasks. The ITE Co-ordinator will also check the mentor has a full understanding of the expectations for Phase 2.
Please see attached above a copy of the form to be completed by tutors (UL and LP) during their visits across the placement. This will need to be uploaded to the trainee’s OneDrive portfolio.
