Visiting Tutor role in Phase 3

Visiting Tutor (for University-led)

The Visiting Tutor will arrange a visit in Week 2 or 3 of the placement. This visit will include an observation of teaching and the tutor will also look at the trainee’s planning and assessment folder. The e-portfolio must also be updated by the trainee before the visit so feedback can be given. There will be chance for the trainee to ask any questions and for the tutor to check that the trainee has a full understanding of the placement expectations and the school-based tasks. The tutor will also check the mentor has a full understanding of the expectations for Phase 3.

The Visiting Tutor will make another visit to the school in Week 6 or 7 of the placement. An observation will take place as above. The tutor will also look at the trainee’s planning and assessment Folder. The e-portfolio must also be updated by the student before the visit so feedback can be given.
